Blake Lively apologizes to Taylor Swift in unsealed messages

On Tuesday, January 20, text messages between Taylor Swift and Blake Lively were unsealed in the lead-up to the “It Ends With Us” trial between Lively and Baldoni. In early December 2024, when Swift was about to wrap up The Eras Tour, Lively apparently sent Swift a text message apologizing for being a “sad sack” for months.
“I have no reason to ask, but I don’t know [sic]I felt like I should… is everything okay? I’ve been feeling like a bad friend lately because I was a stupid asshole who only talked about my own shit for months,” Lively allegedly wrote in court documents obtained by Us every week. “You have been generous to not only be the key person for me during all of this, but also to free me from being so involved.”

Blake Lively asked for opportunity to ‘be a better friend’

Lively went on to say, “I always want the opportunity to be a better friend if I’ve done something unintentionally. I know how busy and taxed you are — physically, emotionally, practically, so I never expect you to ever again,” adding, “I just want to make sure you’re okay.”
Swift responded by saying Lively wasn’t “wrong,” but said it was also “no big deal.”
“I think I’m just exhausted in all areas of my life and over the last few months I’ve felt a little change in the way you talk to me,” Swift responded in the texts. “Yeah, there’s been a lot of stuff with Justin, but I’ve been through things like this before and I know how all-consuming it is.”

Taylor Swift shows her generous spirit

The “Delicate” singer has never been shy about giving her team big bonuses or donating to important causes during the holiday season, but Swifties were thrilled to see that she’s just as generous with her friends when the camera isn’t rolling. Not only did she assure Lively that she had nothing to apologize for, but she was also honest with her in a way that only a true friend could be.
“I feel really bad saying anything about this because your texts were so kind in their intent, but your last ones… I feel like I’m reading a mass company email sent to 200 employees,” Swift continued. “And it’s horrible to be critical in any way about how you deal with what you’ve been through, but I kind of miss my funny, dark, normally speaking friend, who talks to me like herself.”

“I know you feel attacked from all sides for ridiculous reasons, so you feel like you have to explain things too much… but. It’s me! It’s just created a little distance,” she added. “And you don’t need to apologize. Just come back, please.”

Blake Lively ‘didn’t realize’ her tone had changed

In a follow-up text, Lively confessed that she had become “digitally paranoid” and admitted that she “didn’t realize” that her tone had changed in their text messages.
“So yeah, I texted like I was writing. Not like I was talking. I didn’t realize it until you pointed it out, but I see it,” Lively wrote. “On top of that, I overpack simple things because I feel so deeply misunderstood that I no longer trust my judgment about myself… This fucking guy and what he did to me has given me an identity crisis. Legitimately.”
Although an insider previously told the publication their relationship was “strained” amid the May 2025 drama, months after the texts were sent, it appears the two friends will be able to patch up their relationship…at least, once the trial is over!
