Representative Jake Auchincloss says politicians need to ditch their phones and get in touch with nature… telling us that most are nice IRL – but they can get really nasty online.
We met with the Democratic congressman from Massachusetts on Capitol Hill earlier this week…and asked him about the differences between politicians’ personalities in person and online.
Auchincloss tells us he received a device for Christmas that “bricks” his phone – essentially making it a glorified paperweight – and he thinks his colleagues in the House and Senate should equip themselves with similar technology to brick their own phones and go “hit the grass.”

Rep. Auchincloss acknowledges that social media is a useful mass communications tool – along with newspapers and television – but he continues to believe that face-to-face meetings lead to greater understanding across political divides.
The congressman also defends most of his colleagues… claiming that a large majority are trying to govern properly – but a small minority are ruining the situation for everyone.
Mr. President, can we have Congress outside today?
