Meghan Markle was allegedly the subject of a conversation between two members of the royal family during King Charles III, coronation 2023.
Siblings Prince Edward And Princess Anne reportedly discussed not allowing the mother-of-two to get too comfortable, with Anne allegedly calling her “jealous”.
Recent reports now suggest Meghan Markle could return to the UK for the Invictus Games, a move which experts say could lead to a cold reception if it happens.

What the royal siblings said about Meghan Markle

Even though she didn’t attend King Charles’ coronation in 2023, Meghan Markle’s name was still on the lips of some members of the royal family.
As reported by Daily Expresslipreaders working with Channel 5 reportedly interpreted an exchange between Prince Edward and Princess Anne, which alluded to their unfavorable view of the Duchess of Sussex and her marriage to Prince Harry.
According to a lip reader, Edward told Anne that the family “shouldn’t let her get too comfortable,” to which the princess responded with “Meghan is very jealous and alarmist.”
Anne’s comment apparently made her and the prince laugh, before telling him how she had resisted Meghan’s charms.

“I made sure she knew I’m idiot-proof,” she said. Edward then retorted, “We’ll continue to ignore, but it’s the most effective way to weed out unwanted people.”

Experts react to royal siblings’ comments about Duchess of Sussex

Reflecting on the alleged remarks, royal commentator Dickie Arbiter weighed in on Anne’s scathing analysis of Meghan.
“Meghan was always jealous, jealous of other members of the family,” he said. “So I can understand how the family reacts to Meghan. There is no love lost between them, nor will there be.”
Meanwhile, TV presenter Cristo Foufas expressed surprise that such a scandalous conversation took place during the coronation of King Charles III.
“I’m absolutely blown away that at this coronation, they’re having these kinds of conversations within earshot of each other. It’s incredible,” Foufas said.

Former EastEnders actress Nina Wadia echoed the sentiments expressed by Cristo Foufas, adding that the alleged exchange opened her eyes to what she believes is a lack of love for Meghan among members of the royal family.
“I’m just a little speechless because of how blatant it is and how it’s being talked about,” the actress noted.

Meghan Markle could possibly return to the UK for the Invictus Games

Meghan is yet to return to the UK since skipping the coronation, a decision linked to security concerns raised by her and Prince Harry.
There is now speculation she could return alongside him for the upcoming Invictus Games in the UK and, according to one expert, she would likely be given the necessary security measures.
“If Meghan were to travel to the UK under the current RAVEC protocol – which requires 30 days notice to assess threat levels – I am confident that Harry and Meghan would have armed security for an appearance at Invictus,” Kinsey Schofield said, according to Fox News.
According to the expert, this may not be enough to satisfy Meghan, who would probably expect a warmer or more favorable reception.
“Meghan will want lots of assurances, including how she will be treated and how she can bring her own individuality with her,” she added. “Security is one of the biggest issues. I see encouraging signs that the heated moments of the past have calmed down. I also believe that Harry has asked King Charles to open the Invictus Games.”

The “credibility of the Duke and Duchess has been damaged”

If Meghan chooses to accompany Prince Harry to the Invictus Games, the reception she receives could reflect the sentiment allegedly expressed by Edward and Anne at the coronation.
“I don’t think we would see working royals acknowledge their presence,” Kinsey explained. “The credibility of the Sussexes has been undermined in recent years, and the royal family wants to keep its distance…”
Kinsey added: “She felt rejected by Harry’s family and country and wants to focus on her American aspirations.”
Meghan Markle’s return would be seen as ‘divisive’, experts say

It is thought that many Britons may continue to hold similar opinions about Meghan, regardless of how much time has passed since she and Harry stepped back as senior royals and moved to the United States.
“It’s a risky move,” British royal expert Hilary Fordwich said of Meghan’s potential return. “It will, at best, be seen as divisive.”
However, Fordwich also noted that the Duchess of Sussex is smart enough to know that she won’t be returning to a friendly environment.
The expert said: “She is intelligent and knows she will be entering a terribly hostile environment… Members of the royal family are also more than suspicious.”
