Following the publication of Christina Applegate’s memoirs, Sebastian Bach has apologized for the love triangle involving the actress and Brad Pitt. Reflecting on his youth in the whirlwind world of rock ‘n’ roll, Bach acknowledged the past and apologized to anyone he might have hurt with his actions.
Sebastian Bach apologizes for 1989 incident
Applegate’s memoir, “You with the Sad Eyes,” was released on March 3, and soon after, the media highlighted an anecdote in which she ditched Pitt for Bach in 1989.
At that time, Applegate was best known for her role as Kelly Bundy on the sitcom “Married…with Children,” while Pitt was a lesser-known actor early in his acting career. Bach, on the other hand, was the frontman of the heavy metal band Skid Row.
On March 12, Bach spoke with Billboard and addressed the story, saying he was “very surprised when all this happened.” The rock star then apologized to anyone he may have hurt in the past.
“I apologize if I hurt her… if I hurt anyone. When you’re young, you’re thrown into the whirlwind of rock ‘n’ roll, you meet a lot of people and you better hold on. It’s like being on a roller coaster… It was a long time ago. If I hurt anyone, I apologize.” » said Bach.
Christina Applegate shared details in her memoir
In Applegate’s memoir, she wrote that she and Pitt were “platonic” friends for a long time before asking him to accompany her to the 1989 MTV Video Music Awards.
However, Bach caught the attention of the 17-year-old actress during the ceremony. Applegate wrote: “Brad at the time was still making his way as an actor, and he was not yet THE Brad Pitt, the man so many people dream of.” That night, she ended up leaving with Bach, while Pitt drove his mother home.
As the actress shared, she and Pitt didn’t speak for a long time after the incident, but made amends years later. She wrote in her book that Pitt “deserved much better.” Later, Applegate discovered that Bach was in a relationship and had a baby.
The actress opened up about the 2015 incident

In 2015, Applegate was a guest on “Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen” and on the game Plead the Fifth, the actress was asked about leaving Pitt mid-date in 1989.
Cohen’s question was: “Who did you abandon Brad Pitt for?” » Applegate took a moment before asking how many pleas she had for the fifths. By then, she had already used up all her passes. However, she refused to give the person’s name.
Cohen asked him questions, such as if the person was famous or an actress. “Was he known to the public? the host asked, to which Applegate responded, “Mmm hmm.” Applegate remained tight-lipped throughout questions and did not provide names.
Sebastian Bach wrote about the actress in his book
In 2016, Bach was on a radio show when he revealed he was the one Applegate dumped Pitt for. In his memoir, “18 and Life on Skid Row,” published the same year, he wrote that he and the actress “hit it off” in an instant. He said Applegate was “very nice, very beautiful and very famous”, and part of the reason he pursued her was because he thought it would be “good for the group”.
He was in a relationship with a woman named Maria at the time, but in his mind he was thinking, “No rings? No ties.” Although he said he pursued Applegate, he revealed that they did not sleep together, adding that he was “attached” to Maria and that Applegate was so young.
“So there was a time on this earth when Sebastian Bach was sexier than Brad Pitt. Of course it’s written in the book! I have to tell someone,” Bach said on the radio show.
Sebastian Bach wanted a skid meeting
Skid Row formed in 1986 in New Jersey and rose to fame in the late ’80s, releasing multi-platinum albums and songs, such as “18 and Life,” “I Remember You” and “Youth Gone Wild.”
Bach joined the band as frontman in 1987, helping define the Skid Row sound with his stage presence and powerful vocals. He left the group at the end of 1996 due to disagreements over the direction of the group.
In February, Bach said he had wanted to reunite with his old bandmates to perform under the Skid Row name again, but that seemed unlikely. “The more I keep saying yes, yes, yes, but they don’t do anything, then I’m like, well, I mean, at some point it’s like banging my head against a wall,” he noted.
