16 presumed dead in boating accident in Lagos

"A W-19 fiber boat carrying 16 people capsized along the Ojo area of ​​the state.

"The boat going from Mile 2 to Ibeshe in the axis of Ojo broke the rules of the waterways of late travel by leaving at 7:45 p.m. As the boat left, the tide of the water caused the boat to drift boat towards a stationary barge, which caused the boat to capsize. It is said that not all passengers on board, including children, were wearing their life jackets.

In another development, four people were rescued on Saturday and two others are still missing as heavy flooding washed away two vehicles in the Orile Agege area of ​​Lagos State following heavy rains.

The victims of the flood were the occupants of two vehicles, a sport utility vehicle and a Toyota sedan.

It has been established that the drivers of the vehicles ignored warnings from residents of Oyatoki Street, where the incident occurred.

It was recorded that three occupants of the SUV and another occupant of the sedan who listened to warnings from residents were those who were rescued.

The driver of the sedan and another person were still missing on Saturday afternoon as they were swept away with the vehicle in the flood.

National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) South West Coordinator Ibrahim Farinloye confirmed the incident to The Sunday Tribune.
