2023: Governor Ugwuanyi will represent us all in the Senate - Udi people
Residents of Udi Local Government Area of Enugu State on Friday in droves converged on Government House Enugu to thank Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi for the emergence of their illustrious son, Engr. Osita Ngwu (RG), as the People's Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for Enugu West Senatorial District in the 2023 general election.
The jubilant people of Udi LGA, who came with their clergy, traditional leaders, different masquerades and cultural dance troupes, said they were deeply grateful to Governor Ugwuanyi for granting their wish to hold the senatorial seat of the senatorial district of Enugu West. for the first time in the history of the state.
Led by PDP senatorial candidate Engr. Ngwu, the Chairman of Udi LGA, Hon. Philip Okoh, Member representing Udi South Constituency in the State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Chuka Eneh, Commissioner for Chieftaincy Affairs, Dr. Charles Egumgbe, Managing Director of Enugu State Housing Development Corporation (ESHDC), Hon. Chukwuemelie Agu, among other stakeholders, the Udi people told Governor Ugwuanyi that they will forever be indebted to him for breaking the spell and ensuring that he was given his fair share of political posts in Enugu West Senatorial District and in the State.
The people of Udi LGA have reassured the governor of their maximum support and loyalty to his administration and the PDP, pledging that they will hand over the PDP gubernatorial candidate, Barr. Peter Mbah, and all the other candidates of the party, in the next general elections.
They also expressed their joy at Engr's choice. Ngwu as the PDP candidate in the Enugu West senatorial district, describing him as a young, intelligent, matured and unassuming personality, who will bring his wealth of experience in his private and public relations to provide quality representation to the people of the district, if elected.
They also appreciated Governor Ugwuanyi for the emergence of his former chief of staff, Rt. Hon. Dr. Festus Uzor as the PDP candidate for Udi/Ezeagu Federal Constituency.
The people of Udi LGA therefore implored God to continue to bless Governor Ugwuanyi, who is the PDP candidate for Enugu North Senatorial District, and all his efforts, pointing out that the Governor, on the basis of his political acumen and background, will not only represent his constituency in the Senate, but also the entire state, if elected.
Speaking, the Rector, Enugu State Polytechnic, Iwollo, Ezeagu LGA, Rev. Fr. Dr. Nnamdi Nwankwo said that “The Governor has shown us that he is a father, not just a father of the whole state, but a father who has the pains and feelings of the Udi people at heart”.< /p>
Expressing his deep gratitude, the Rev. Dr Nwankwo added, "Today we all smile, rejoice and say thank you, Your Excellency.
"The young man (Ngwu) looks so young but his ideas are old, quite old and very mature. What he has done so far has shown me that in the senatorial district of Enugu West, the sun has risen.
“Our spirituality is such that it must be sacramentalized. Sacrament in Igbo we say Ama ife - what you see from a vision behind the curtain - and that is why we are here today. We gathered the masquerades, that is our ancestors, we gathered our Igwes, then the Anis and all together to come here to say thank you Your Excellency, and may God continue to bless you and give you more strength,” he says.
In his speech, PDP senatorial candidate Engr. Ngwu pointed out that "what happened today never happened at Udi LGA".
He added that “this is the first time that a Udi man will be elected as a Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria”, expressing his deep appreciation to Governor Ugwuanyi for his leadership role in realizing their dream.< /p>
Eng. Ngwu maintained that Governor Ugwuanyi remembered Udi LGA in many ways and always stood by him, revealing, “Udi LGA is one of the major LGAs in Enugu State. And you (Ugwuanyi) supported us in your government. Appointments that have reached Udi LGA are more than other local governments.
"In your administration, you have remembered us. I come from Ngwo, the Miliken Hill road which you rebuilt and remodeled is a historic project of which we are the main beneficiaries.
