2023: INEC is concerned about the slowness of PVC collection in Akwa Ibom

The National Commissioner, Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Mrs. May Mbu, has expressed concern over the low turnout in PVC collection in Akwa Ibom State.

Mbu who raised the concern on Tuesday in Uyo during the INEC-Akwa Ibom Stakeholder Forum in preparation for the 2023 general elections urged all stakeholders, especially political parties, to help disseminate information on the PVC collection exercise.

According to her “I am indeed very pleased today to meet for the first time with our stakeholders in Akwa Ibom State. .

“One of the main reasons for this occasion is to take this opportunity to tell stakeholders, traditional leaders, security personnel, politicians, targeted voters and indeed everyone in the state from Akwa Ibom that the pace of PVC collection in Akwa Ibom is extremely slow.

“We want stakeholders to support the dissemination of information at scale. no one is deprived of their rights.

“I have been made to understand that steps have been taken to ensure reasonable security at our offices in this state and I thank the various state security agencies. safety around our staff, state and local government offices"

She noted that the Commission, for its part, was making steady progress in other critical areas ahead of the elections, including the provision of sensitive and non-sensitive materials, the recruitment of ad hoc staff, and movement planning. personnel and materials for the election.

"I encourage you all to make every effort to ensure the efficient distribution of PVCs", she continued.

Earlier in his remarks, the State's Resident Electoral Commissioner, Dr. Cyril Omorogbe, noted that the forum has become important as it has given stakeholders an opportunity to exchange ideas on how to achieve free, fair and credible elections in 2023.

He assured the public, however, that the Commission would ensure that no one was deprived of their rights with regard to the collection of PVC.
