2023: Tinubu in good health, works 20 hours a day, answers the APC campaign Peter Obi

The All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council has attacked Labor Party (LP) presidential candidate Peter Obi for his comment on the health of his candidate, Bola Tinubu.

The council, in a statement by one of its spokespersons, Bayo Onanuga, said on Tuesday that Mr. Obi was not qualified to comment on Mr. Tinubu's health.

Mr. Obi had in a viral video claimed that Mr. Tinubu was not physically fit for the post of president but that most people around him supported his ambition because of the money they would get from him.

He further claimed that a Tinubu support group sent a message urging Yoruba not to vote for him based on ethnic sentiments.

"Yoruba shine your eyes o, if you vote for Peter Obi, you automatically vote for South South and South East seaports. Igbos will stop coming to Lagos State to invest, they will go to Delta and Rivers states instead, they might even stop building houses in Lagos. This will affect a lot of Yoruba. Yoruba ro nu o,” Obi said in the video.

On Monday, Festus Keyamo, another spokesperson for the APC's Presidential Campaign Council, responded to Obi's comment. He accused Mr. Obi of fueling ethnic rhetoric.

Obi an incurable liar - Onanuga

In the statement, Mr. Onanuga described Mr. Obi as an “incurable liar”, noting that his comments are unbecoming of a presidential candidate.

"We find these statements unworthy of a man who harbors ambitions to be Nigeria's next president.

"Since he is not Asiwaju's doctor and unaware of his medical records, Obi, the poor philosophy graduate, has once again scandalously brought up what has long been a beer bar gossip and a social media lie propagated by his IPOB supporters. Obi, in his characteristic way, amplifies the lie that should have no place in a decent political campaign,” he said. declared.

Mr. Onanuga further said that Mr. Obi had "thrown all caution to the wind, pronouncing himself on matters on which he has no moral and professional competence to pass judgement".

He insisted that Mr. Tinubu, 70, a former governor of Lagos State, is fit to continue the campaign to become president.

"We want to make it abundantly clear to all critics of the All Progressives Congress presidential candidate that Asiwaju Tinubu is not ill. He is vigorous and warm-hearted. You cannot say that a working man 20 hours a day, meeting people and strategizing to find solutions to Nigeria's problems, be sick. We are bold in saying that our candidate is as fit as the fiddle,” the statement read.

"We also want to educate Peter Obi and his horde of gullible supporters that the millions of Tinubu supporters across the country support him not because of pecuniary advantage. Asiwaju Tinubu supporters support him because of their firm belief in his demonstrable ability to provide progressive leadership for our country.

"They support him because they believe in his capacity as a transformative leader, who once marked Lagos State historically and is able to replicate the same in Nigeria.

"On that point alone, Tinubu is unmatched on the pitch, even by perennial presidential hopeful Atiku Abubakar. He's certainly not in the same league as Peter Obi, who elicits scum, according to all leadership settings.

“Appearing so soon after his blunder and lie in accusing Tinubu of mobilizing Yoruba voters into not supporting him, Obi comes across as a dangerous politician and demagogue capable of spouting all sorts of lies just to get the votes.

"Already discredited by lies and statistical errors, Obi is now treading new ground, spreading lies with unfounded claims about Asiwaju Tinubu's health."
