Access Bank's 'W' initiative will impact the health of 5,000 women in October

In stepping up efforts to accelerate the achievement of SDG 3, which emphasizes good health and well-being, Access Bank's "W" initiative is set to launch the third edition of its annual Women's Health Month program in October 2022.

The month-long campaign aims to significantly reduce the death rate from preventable diseases, educate women about health issues, and improve the overall quality of health care available to women in Nigeria.

“In the few years that we have led this initiative, the impact we have had has been nothing short of impressive,” commented Abiodun Olubitan, Group Head, “W” Initiative at Access Bank PLC.

"True to our mantra of offering 'more than banking', our goal will be to provide accessible health care to thousands of women in eight pre-qualified states of the Federation. One of the goals of the “W” initiative is to change the health narrative for many Nigerian women, especially those in underserved communities, and that is what we will strive to achieve with the next month of health.

“We have seen positive results in previous editions and we will deepen the impact this year by offering free cancer checks and educational programs, open fertility clinics, among others,” added Olubitan.< /p>

Leveraging its partnership with leading healthcare facilities - Chronicare Diabetes Management Centre, Hephzibah Eye Care, Skipper Eye Q, Evercare Hospital, Grandville Medical and Laser and Nordica's Fibroid Care Centre, the initiative "W" will offer a variety of essential medical services, including free breast and cervical cancer screenings, comprehensive eye screenings, diabetes screenings as well as discounts and gifts at partner institutions, throughout the campaign.

“W” Health Month will also include a series of free webinars hosted by renowned medical authorities that will offer essential insight into pressing healthcare conversations such as cancer, IVF, surrogacy, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, fibroids and mental health every Thursday. in the month. Webinar topics are built around cancer (October 6), fertility and fibroid management (October 13), chronic disease, nutrition and weight management (October 20), and mental health (October 27).

"W" Health Month is a flagship health awareness program that began in 2019 and focuses on key reproductive health issues: infertility, endometriosis, cancer, VVF, and maternal and neonatal mortality affecting children. women. Over its 3 years, the "W" Initiative has promoted access to free health talks, health walks, and free screenings for breast and cervical cancer, eyes, blood pressure, BMI, etc. So far, 393,435 women have been reached through Health Month activities with 3,811 beneficiaries being screened.

The 'W' Initiative remains committed to promoting healthcare accessibility for women and has continuously done so through the Maternal Health Support Service (MHSS) - a funding product of the discount health care created specifically to pay medical bills for fertility treatments, birth support, and other specialized procedures making access to quality health care easier and more convenient for women and their families .
