Adamawa police arrest 31 suspects for criminal activity

Adamawa State Police Command on Monday paraded 31 suspects arrested for various criminal activities in the state.

Adamawa Police Commissioner Sikiru Akande said the arrest of the criminal elements followed diligent intelligence-based policing.

He said the suspects included 8 "Shila boys", a gang of youths who specialize in dispossessing residents of their valuables using dangerous weapons and 23 other suspects were arrested for d 'other crimes.

He said, "We are pleased to report the arrest of 8 Shila boys and 23 other criminal elements following a diligent, tactical and intelligence-driven raid from dusk till dawn. from a criminal hideout in the state.

The 31 suspects parading today are involved in a variety of crimes, including culpable homicide, domestic violence, rape, serious bodily injury, criminal conspiracy, and kidnapping, among others.

Command also recovered 1 Toyota Starlet car (blue), 5 locally made single barrel rifles, 8 handsets, 3 matches, 1 laptop, Tiger generator, dagger, 2 active cartridges, MP3, lamp torch and hard drugs. »

Akande told reporters that the suspects were arrested by police officers drawn from the Crack Squad, Special Rapid Squad, Criminal Investigation Department and personnel from the various divisional police headquarters in the State.

He revealed that his men's success in fighting crime has been tremendous while promising to keep the momentum going by reducing crime to the nearest minimum by stepping up periodic police patrols.

Akande, who promised that locals would soon breathe a sigh of relief at the activities of the fearsome Shila boys, as investigations to uncover those behind the Shila boys have since begun.

He lamented, however, that while progress has been made in ridding the state of criminal elements, there has been a significant increase in domestic violence and culpable homicides, he noted.

He therefore appealed to the public not to relax their efforts to report cases of domestic violence and culpable homicide to the police.
