Once again, gunmen shell Imo police station

Gunmen razed the Afor Atta Divisional Police Headquarters in Njaba Local Government Area, Imo State on Monday night.

This came just hours after a convoy of former state governor Ikedi Ohakim was attacked and four of his police officers were killed.

On the latest development, a community source told our correspondent that the attackers arrived at the police station and threw explosives at the facility and it burned down.

Our correspondent understood that no police were on duty when the assailants struck.

The source said, "The police station in my community was burnt down. It burned down last night. Nobody could get out because of fear. As we speak, the area is deserted."< /p>

The same police station was vandalized in June 2021 after two adjacent courts were set on fire.

State Police Spokesman Micheal Abattam has yet to issue a statement regarding the incident.
