On July 21, the White House announced that leading artificial intelligence (AI) companies, such as OpenAI, Google, and Microsoft, have committed to developing safe, secure, and transparent AI technology. The White House has also recognized other companies like Amazon, Anthropic, Meta, and Inflection for their commitment to AI safety.

The Biden administration has underscored the responsibility of companies to ensure the safety of their products and harness the potential of AI while promoting high standards in its development.

Kent Walker, President of Global Business at Google, recognized that success in AI requires collaboration. He said he was pleased to join other leading AI companies in supporting these commitments and assured that Google would continue to work with other companies by sharing information and best practices.

Commitments include pre-release security testing of AI systems, sharing of AI security best practices, investment in cybersecurity and insider threat protections, and the ability for third parties to report AI system vulnerabilities. Anna Makanju, vice president of global affairs at OpenAI, said policymakers around the world are considering new regulations for advanced AI systems.
