Alleged organ harvesting: David Nwamini asks court to overturn Ekweremadu biological data disclosure order

An alleged organ harvesting victim, David Nwamini, has urged the Federal High Court in Abuja to overturn his order disclosing his biometric information to Ike Ekweremadu.

Mr. Ekweremadu, former Deputy Speaker of the Nigerian Senate, and his wife, Beatrice, were arrested in the UK in June for allegedly attempting to remove Mr Nwamini's kidney for their sick daughter.

London Metropolitan Police arrested the Ekweremadus based on their investigations that Mr Nwanini, whom the couple took to London for organ harvesting, was a minor.

PREMIUM TIMES reported that prosecutors said the Ekweremadus were accused of bringing a 15-year-old boy from Nigeria to the UK claiming he should have a better life in the UK, but that he actually had to harvest his organ.

But in July, a criminal court rejected Mr. Ekweremadu's bail request but freed his wife.

The couple had insisted that Mr Nwanini was 21 years old and had requested his official records to prove their allegation along with the official records of the alleged victims in the custody of the relevant Nigerian authorities, including the NIMC.

Following their request, the Federal High Court in Abuja on July 1 ordered relevant government agencies and commercial banks in Nigeria to release Mr. Nwamini's biographical data on the beleaguered Ekweremadus.

However, in the new petition before Judge Inyang Ekwo, Mr. Nwamini challenged the court's procedure which ordered the disclosure of his biographical data to the Ekweremadus.

He claimed the prosecution deprived him of a fair trial and violated his right to privacy.
