INEC spokesman Festus Okoye, who disclosed in a statement on Wednesday, said the attackers vandalized parts of the commission's office.

“Eight windows were smashed and evidence of the burglary was removed. Fortunately, the attackers were unable to gain access to the building. Mobile and immovable equipment and other materials were not removed or vandalized he said.

The INEC spokesperson said that, as a precautionary measure, some "critical materials" such as ballot boxes and voting booths have been evacuated to another INEC facility for safekeeping. sure.

"Similarly, all uncollected PVCs have been secured while security will be deployed to ensure the continued collection of cards by registered voters at the same premises," he said.
