Antonio Brown's tenure as football team owner reportedly got off to a horrific start - the controversial former NFL star is accused of driving the organization into the ground...by uttering violent threats against the former head coach and locking players out of their hotel rooms.

TMZ Sports spoke to two former members of the National Arena League's Albany Empire - head coach Damon Ware and quarterback Sam Castronova - and they both detailed their hellish experiences before leave the team.

Ware said Brown's ownership was doomed from the start...explaining it was a "hostile takeover" when the Super Bowl champ came on board in March, forcing the other owners to withdraw by throwing money at them.

Ware said the main issue was getting everyone to pay...and that his conversations with AB about this would get so bad that the recipient would resort to violent threatening text messages.

According to Ware, Brown - who now owns 95% of the team - was a nightmare to work with...because his ego kept him from improving the team and helping players level up .
