Anxiety as gunmen kidnap Nasarawa Information Commissioner

Nasarawa State Information, Culture and Tourism Commissioner Yakubu Lawal was abducted by gunmen who stormed his residence on Monday night and took him to a destination unknown.
The PUNCH understands that the incident, which happened in the Nasarawa Eggon local government area of the state and was met with sporadic gunfire, lasted for thirty minutes without any assistance from security agencies .
A staff member of the Government Science Secondary School in the same LGA, Auta Nasela, was killed by gunmen on the school premises on Saturday and another staff member was injured during a the attack.
Confirming the incident, Command Police Public Relations Officer Rahman Nansel said: "On 8/15/2022 at approximately 8:45 p.m., the attention of police on routine patrol was drawn to the noise of sporadic gunfire in the Nasarawa Eggon local government area of the state.
"As a result, police officers attached to Nasarawa Eggon Division rushed to the scene while Police Commissioner, CP Adesina Soyemi immediately reinforced the men with a combined police mobile force detachment , anti-abduction unit, military personnel, Vigilante as well as local hunters.
“Upon arrival at the scene, it was discovered that these unknown gunmen, while firing sporadically, invaded the residence of a Hon. Yakubu Lawal Addah and forcibly abducted him to an unknown destination.
"The search and rescue operation is underway by the combined team, led by Area Commander, Akwanga Area Command, ACP Halliru Aliyu, to rescue the victim unharmed and apprehend the perpetrators."< /p>
Nansel appealed to members of the public with helpful information that could help command rescue the victim or arrest the suspects by contacting command for quick action.
