APC rejects Atiku's allegation of undermining justice system

The All Progressives Congress has rejected an allegation by People's Democratic Party presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar that he was conspiring to intimidate members of the judiciary in order to improperly influence the outcome of cases pending before the court.

APC National Publicity Secretary, Mr. Felix Morka, in a statement on Saturday in Abuja, said Abubakar and his party had not provided any evidence to support their claims that the February 25 presidential election was characterized by irregularities.

“Our attention was drawn to a press release from a media aide to Atiku Abubakar, PDP presidential candidate.

"The statement alleges that the APC and its government are engaged in a conspiracy to intimidate members of the judiciary in order to improperly influence the outcome of cases pending before the court.

"Atiku Abubakar and his underlings have provided no evidence to support their outlandish, hollow and malicious allegations.

"Quite frankly, there is nothing in Abubakar's statement that merits a reaction from the APC," Morka said.

He added that the statement lacked substance and force, saying its only imaginable purpose was a childish attempt to float an alibi to deflect shame from a highly likely defeat in court.

This, he added, came after the former vice president failed to build a credible case to back up his false claim that he won the last presidential election.

“President Bola Tinubu and our party won the election convincingly. We have complete faith and confidence in our courts to deliver electoral justice in accordance with our Constitution and all applicable laws,” Morka emphasized.
