APC suspends president over alleged anti-party activities
All Progressives Congress (APC) Bauchi State Chairman Babayo Misau has been suspended for alleged anti-party activities.
Party leaders in the Kukadi/Gundari ward of Misau local government said Mr. Misau did not campaign for party candidates in the just-concluded 2023 elections.
The APC lost the state in presidential and gubernatorial elections. The gubernatorial election was hotly contested by incumbent President Bala Mohammed of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who scored 525,280 to defeat Sadique - Baba Abubakar of the APC who garnered 432,272 votes. /p>
Speaking at a press conference in Bauchi on Tuesday afternoon, Aliyu Hasaan - Adamu, the district party secretary, said that the district leaders informed the local government leadership of the party of their decision to suspend Mr. Misau.
While alleging that the president was absent from all party campaign outings, Mr. Hassan-Adamu said the party executive held a meeting to review the actions of the president during the election.< /p>
Mr. Hassan-Adamu said that in addition to not campaigning for the party's candidates, Mr Misau "openly" discouraged people from voting for the APC. He said the suspended president also posted his ballot to show that he had not voted for the party's gubernatorial candidate, among other infractions.

“He was caught in the act of posting his voter registration sheet where he did not vote for the candidate for the office of governor of the party, but rather for the candidates for the elections to the Assembly of the 'state. He even went so far as to discourage the electorate from voting for the party in the general elections. We consider this to be a great distrust of our party, so he is not fit to be a party member in Misau LGA .
“We stripped him of his party membership in Kukadi/Gundari ward. To this effect, all our party leaders in Misau local government ward signed and henceforth he ceases to be a member of the APC in Misau LGA”, said Mr. Hassan - Adamu.
