APC leaders vote no confidence in Beta Edu

APC members under the umbrella of "APC Elected Female National Officers and Zone Leaders" voted a "vote of no confidence" in the party's national leader, Dr. Beta Edu, for allegedly abusing his duties.

The rejection of the ministerial hope was contained in a petition written to President Bola Tinubu on Friday.

Members wrote in the petition: "Without departing from the essence of this matter, it is pertinent that we express our utter displeasure and concern at the misrepresentation and self-aggrandizement of the national female leader, Dr. Beta Edu during her visit to the Presidential Villa on July 13, 2023.

“We wish to state categorically and in strong terms that her visit to the Presidential Villa was a misrepresentation because she in no way represents the national elected representatives and the zone leaders of the party, contrary to the information which circulates.< /p >

“We were completely unaware of her presidential visit and no information or notification was given to us regarding the women she claimed to represent during her visit. being the representation of national stakeholders and women zone leaders, even without their knowledge and not present during the visit.

"It is worrying that at this embryonic stage of the administration of President Bola Tinubu, which needs all hands to be on deck, that the female leadership of the party is already experiencing division and isolation in representation, which has been the model of the National Woman Leader Beta Edu since its emergence. It is in strong terms that we reject her leadership because she has failed in the management of women's affairs in the party."

A copy of the letter, which was made available to our correspondent, was also sent to APC National President, Senator Abdullahi Adamu; national secretary, Iyiola Omisore; chief of staff, Femi Gbajabiamila; office of the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu; wife of the vice president, Hajia Nana Shettima, all the wives of the APC governors and the party zone vice presidents.

The petition, signed by nine women leaders from the six geopolitical zones, accuses Betta of ostracizing them and arranging for alleged fake women to see the president on a courtesy visit.< /p>

Women leaders who signed the petition included APC Deputy National Treasurer Omorede Osifo; National Ex-Officio (South West), Olubunmi Oriniowo; National Office Member (Central North), Oluwatoyin Opawoye; Chief of Zone Women (Central North), Princess Zahra Audu; Zone Women's Leader (South-West), Ms. Yetunde Adesanya and Zone Women's Leader (South-East), Mimi Diyiokeh.

Others were Zone Women's Leader (Northeast), Zainab Alman; Area Women Manager (South-South), Ms. Cynthia Princewill; Zone women's leader (North-West), Hajia Hadiza Shagari.

While requesting a separate courtesy visit to the presidential villa, the women leaders further alleged that the former Cross River Health Commissioner deliberately isolated them even during the election campaign.

“Throughout the election campaign, Dr. Betta Edu worked in isolation, without synergy, with her fellow national party officials and zone leaders. We have individually devised ways and strategies to galvanize and mobilize support for the party in our various states and have traveled to almost every state campaigning with Mr. President with our personal funds and resources because we are very committed to the project. Renewed Hope and that we are happy to be part of today's success story.

"We want Mr. President to know that most of the women that Dr. Betta Edu paraded were mostly fake. Genuine, democratically elected national officers who are even members of the National Executive Council, all women zone leaders, the three female senators and fifteen female members of the House of Representatives, as well as a host of other female leaders and relevant stakeholders were replaced with fake women during the visit to the president.

"We hereby reject the leadership of Dr Betta Edu and unanimously adopt a vote of no confidence in her and all she stands for. We call upon Mr. President to use his good offices to grant an audience to elected women national executives and women zone leaders of our great party for inclusiveness,” the letter reads.

However, in reaction to the allegation, Edu disavowed the APC zone leaders, claiming that they are false.

"These are not women leaders. These people are imposters. I can tell you that the leaders of all 36 states have written to disown them.

“The meeting they were talking about was between the president and the women leaders of the 36 states. All of them were present at the meeting except one. I don't think any media outlet should carry this stupid news. is fraud. You know people are hustling left, right and center."
