Army corporal crushes general to death in Lagos
Officers and men at the Nigerian Armed Forces Relocation Centre, Oshodi, Lagos, were mourned on Tuesday evening following the death of the centre's Finance Director, Brigadier General Audu James.
The PUNCH figured out that General James was dead after a Corporal Abayomi Edun ran him over with a car as he made his way to his residence in the barracks. The incident happened around 10:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
Corporal Edun is believed to have been acting under the influence of alcohol, as sources say he was driving recklessly before hitting the senior officer.
General James, who was reportedly immediately rushed to hospital, later died of serious injuries already sustained in the accident.
The Army Corporal has since been arrested and detained by NAFRC Provost Marshals who are investigating the matter.
