Arsenal player ratings as two undroppable Mikel Arteta steal the show in Liverpool win

Liverpool gave their all but ultimately couldn't win anything as they were beaten 3-2 at Arsenal in a sensational Premier League encounter. The Gunners have shown they are seriously serious in this title chase with another massive three points, and Mikel Arteta's side could well be ready to push Manchester City all the way this season.

Goals from Gabriel Martinelli and two from Bukayo Saka secured the points as the north Londoners put up another test of their league titles despite a spirited effort from the traveling Reds.

Arsenal were ahead after just a minute when Martinelli ran over Martin Odegaard's fine ball and finished with confidence. Liverpool came back strong in a relentless first half as Darwin Nunez was on hand to hide from Luis Diaz's cut.

The action didn't stop there and despite a long period of Liverpool dominance, Arsenal responded by returning to the front right on the stroke of half-time through Saka at the far post.

Liverpool fought back and started the second half in perfect fashion when Roberto Firmino finished superbly on his left foot to open the game.

However, it was Arsenal who pushed the pace and they were the only team that seemed to truly win the contest. That's exactly what they did when Saka converted from the penalty spot after Thiago Alcantara fouled Gabriel Jesus in the box.

Here's how Arsenal's players ranked in the 3-2 win over Liverpool...

Aaron Ramsdale - 7

He twisted his thigh taking a goal kick in the first 10 minutes of the match. Didn't make any notable saves other than one that prevented a William Saliba own goal. Didn't look too convincing but solid enough.

Ben White - 7

Solid performances from the improvised right-back. I did not take the wrong foot. Good choice of pass.

William Saliba - 7

Almost spun into his own net after a low cross in the first half. Showed immense speed defending Luis Diaz shortly after Liverpool equalized. Strong as an ox and usually up to anything asked of it.

Gabriel Magalhaes - 5

Seems like a weak link in a great team. Almost gave away a penalty for manipulation and was then exposed for Liverpool's opener.

Takehiro Tomiyasu - 7

Held strong during his first run with Mohamed Salah. Defended calmly throughout. Justified its selection with a solid display.

Thomas Partey - 7

Solid from the Ghanaian, who loved changing the game. Was involved in a tangle with Luiz Diaz which saw the Colombian injured with a knee problem.

Granite Xhaka - 7

Tested Alisson with weak training in the first half. Always steely and full of spirit in the middle of the park.

Bukayo Saka - 8

Arrived at the back post for a throw-in for Arsenal's second after a quiet first-half performance but then showed a huge bottle to convert the penalty.

Martin Odegaard - 7

Put the ball on a plate for Martinelli to gratefully hit the opener. Booked for taking down Diogo Jota.

Gabriel Martinelli - 9

Excellent. Started the game like a house on fire, scoring after just a minute when he came from behind and finished confidently. Was on hand to provide the mate for Saka. Liverpool struggled to cope with him.

Gabriel Jesus - 7

Quiet by his standards, much of Arsenal's attacking play has been on the flanks. Do we have the penalty when it was hit by Thiago Alcantara.
