ASP removed in Kwara

The Deputy Superintendent of Police (ASP) of Kwara State Police Command, Abdulmumini Yusuf, was reportedly abducted by suspected gunmen in Ilorin, Kwara State.

Tribune Online has discovered that the kidnapping victim, commonly referred to as 'Emirate No1', was serving in the area command in Ilorin.

According to sources, the incident happened on Tuesday evening as the ASP was about to enter his house in the Ogidi community after the closure of the works.

It was also discovered that the Commissioner of Police, Paul Odama, had since visited the community after the development, as a large police patrol was noticed around the community.

Speaking on the development, local resident Jamiu Abdulganiy said the development has thrown the community into fear and apprehension; "when a police officer can be brazenly kidnapped."

Also speaking on the incident, Kwara State Secretary of the Community Policing Advisory Committee Shola Muse said the development has again highlighted the growing insecurity in the state, adding that the situation was getting worse.

He called on security agencies to improve crime prevention and control.

Kwara PC Paul Odama confirmed the development saying, "Yeah it's true, but we're still there."
