Nolan Bushnell, founder of Atari and inventor of Pong, one of the first commercially successful video games, was optimistic about the future of Web3 games, especially regarding the appropriation of virtual worlds.

At the Digital Entertainment Leadership Forum in Hong Kong on August 25, Bushnell spoke alongside Yat Siu, co-founder of Animoca Brands, to discuss the past, present and future of gaming. It was moderated by Sean Hung, Managing Partner of the Chiron Group.

Bushnell, whom Yat Siu called the "grandfather of video games", praised Web3 games for their ability to extend the concept of ownership in the digital landscape.

“Games will increasingly mimic all the factors of life. Web3 with blockchain suddenly transfers ownership to the virtual world. »

The Atari founder is currently Chief Knowledge Officer of Web3 gaming company Moxy — and kicked off the panel by sharing key details from a conversation he had with Siu the previous days:

“I was just dumbfounded. I mean, we had, you know, once in a while, you can have a brain-changing conversation. We had one. »
