Atiku warns members against statements compromising PDP unity

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, has called on party stakeholders and supporters to avoid making statements that could undermine party unity.

The former vice president made the call in a statement signed by his media adviser, Mr. Paul Ibe, in Abuja.

Abubakar urged stakeholders and his supporters to avoid statements that undermine ongoing work to further strengthen the party and unite its leadership.

Presidential candidate says it is imperative to call on all party members, leaders and anyone associated with him to refrain from making comments that could undermine the party's image as a united entity.

"This call becomes necessary to draw the attention of party leaders and members to the diversionary antics of the ruling party, creating a false impression of division within the PDP."

Abubakar said he aimed to mislead the Nigerian public into ignoring challenges from the ruling party.

He said that today Nigerians admired the PDP to return to power, “hence the nervousness of the ruling party ahead of the 2023 general election.

“This is also the very reason why the ruling party is manipulating the political process to create a sense of division within the PDP.

"It is for this reason that I call on all genuine PDP members and all those who truly wish the success of the PDP presidential candidate not to fall into the trap of the APC by making statements that could give credence to the false allegation of division in the PDP,” he said.

He said that all PDP leaders, including governors, especially Governor Nyesom Wike de Rivers, were united in working towards a victory for the PDP in next year's general election.

“What is at stake in next year’s elections is the future of Nigeria, and all PDP leaders and members are on the same page in the mission to save Nigeria,” said said Abubakar.
