Attack against a barbaric, inhuman policewoman –PSC

The Police Services Commission on Friday called the attack on Inspector Teju Moses barbaric and inhumane.

Moses, who was a policewoman attached to activist Professor Zainab Abiola, was assaulted by Abiola and her household staff in Abuja on Tuesday.

PSC Press and Public Relations Officer Mr. Ikechukwu Ani said in a statement that the assault on the police officer was a direct threat to national security and a calculated attempt to ridicule the Nigerian police and what they are. for.

Although Abiola and one of his household employees have been arrested, the second employee involved is still at large.

Ani therefore called for an immediate investigation and prosecution of all figures involved and urged law enforcement authorities to review the operations of the Special Protection Unit.

The CPS spokesperson said the appeal was to ensure that only a few Nigerians genuinely deserving of such protection benefit from the service.

“The Commission frowns upon the abuse of police orderlies by Nigerians who now use them as status symbols or convert them into domestic helpers who clean, cook or perform menial work.

“With the security problems ravaging the country, there is an urgent need to release many police officers who hang around in private homes and follow important men,” he said.

Ani called on the police hierarchy to quickly end this practice and focus their efforts on maintaining order and protecting vulnerable Nigerians.
