Audi is expanding its development in China with a new Research and Development center in Beijing. The company said the new Audi China building houses a total of seven different R&D departments in China.

With the expanded R&D team, Audi China is making every effort to expand its local R&D capabilities in the market: Working closely with AUDI AG, Audi China is systematically investing in intelligent cockpit technologies, innovative display concepts, voice control systems and connectivity solutions. The development team is also working on user interfaces and experience designs that shape the brand, as well as China-specific vehicle designs. Additionally, the R&D team and its counterpart in Germany work together to define and develop product functionality for new electronic architectures, including advanced driver assistance systems and automated driving systems.

“The new R&D center in Beijing and the Audi FAW NEV company in Changchun clearly demonstrate the progress made in transforming Audi's business in China. With these two projects, we are addressing the defining trends of the Chinese automotive market, namely: electrification, digitalization and sustainability,” says Markus Duesmann, CEO of Audi.

“Continuing research and development as well as production in our largest market is an important step.
