Audit question: Committee of Representatives convenes TETFUND, asks for explanation on use of funds, grants



The House Public Accounts Committee, PAC, on Tuesday gave oversight of the Higher Education Trust Fund, TETFUND, a seven-day deadline within which to appear before it to explain the mode of operation of the Fund and its reserve in accordance with the law that created it.

The Chairman of the Committee, Hon. Busayo Oluwole Oke issued the summons while the Accountant General of the Federation, Mr. Sylva Okolieaboh, reviewed before the committee the multiple issues raised from numerous Ministries, Departments and MDA Agencies of the federal government

According to him, the Management of the Agency who must appear alongside the Accountant General is predicted to explain the mode of operation of the Fund in accordance with the Law which set it up.

Management is also required to explain the use of the 2.5% school tax collected from businesses and organizations on behalf of the federal government

The Committee also requested information on expenses, list of donors, gifts and general amounts involved.

He disapproved of a fiscal year in which the Agency no longer reported its excess price range to the federal authorities' consolidated account at the end of each 12-month fiscal year acquired from different MDAs.
