Speaking to The PUNCH on the phone, a native of the town, Sani Abubakar said the bandits arrived in the town around 11 p.m. Thursday and started firing sporadically to scare the people away. people.

Abubakar said many people fled upon hearing the gunshots, while others closed their doors to avoid kidnappings.

He said the bandits went straight to Aminu Ardo's residence where they broke down the door to get in.

"As soon as the bandits entered the house, they abducted the Honorable Member's wife and four children.

"As they came out of the house, they spotted two of his neighbors, MalamYahaya and Sa,adu Mainama, whom they also abducted," he said.

Abubakar said the bandits also took away a motorbike belonging to one of the abductees.

Franzied efforts to speak to the lawmaker proved futile as he did not answer multiple calls made to his phone.

State Information Commissioner Alhaji Ibrahim Dosara also did not pick up his phone despite confirming the incident to BBC Hausa.

Contacted to comment on the matter, State Police Command spokesman Mohammed Shehu said, "I will get more details."

However, Shehu did not respond until this report was filed.
