Bandits kill a Nigerian village chief and kidnap three

Bandits in Niger State killed the head of Mulo village in the state's Mashegu local government area, Usman Garba, after he was kidnapped.

This was announced at a press briefing in Minna on Friday by State Homeland Security Commissioner Emmanuel Umar. He said the terrorists invaded the community of Mulo on Thursday and abducted the village chief and four other people.

City Round figured out that Garba was killed after he was kidnapped and his corpse dumped a few miles from the village. The bandits then fled with the three victims.

Confirming the incident, Umar said that although the security situation across the state has improved, there were threats and pockets of attacks in some communities, particularly in Mashegu , Mariga and Kontagora LGA.

He said, “There is an improvement in the security situation in the state. There has been a reduction in attacks but we are aware that the threat is still there and still exists. Recently, we have seen attacks on the outskirts of Mashegu, Mariga and Kontagora.''

He added that state security agencies had been tasked with flushing out terrorists and ending insecurity in council areas.

Umar said, “The governor has ordered the security agencies to come out in force to ensure that this holiday season does not have an incident. There will be an increase in patrols and visibility."
