Between Tinubu, Atiku – who is the unifier?, By Fredrick Nwabufo

Leadership must represent yes and no. Leadership must unite, not divide. Therefore, Nigerians must make the right decisions in 2023. Nigeria needs a President for all Nigerians. A president who is impartial in his judgment and who can exemplify this aspect of Buhari by dealing fairly with the distribution of national resources. They must choose this leader.

In the beginning was a man who claimed to be the unifier of Nigeria; he pledged to unite a divided Nigeria; his campaign motif was "One Nigeria", but under a blizzard of political uncertainty he retreated into a tribal silo. Why?

Nigeria needs leadership that can sustain it; consolidate existing welding efforts and inspire hope, patriotism, unity and brotherhood. It is true that over the years, various jurisdictions have wrestled with the challenge of harmonizing disparate interests and managing divisiveness. Every administration faces this challenge. But what really matters is the will and the managerial amplitude to respond to the problem.

The Buhari administration, for example, could be blamed for other failings, but it has been even-handed in allocating infrastructure projects across areas. The second Niger bridge in the southeast would be one of the costliest projects under this government. The Federal Executive Council (FEC) recently approved the resumption of construction of the N202 billion Enugu-Onitsha highway by MTN Nigeria, under the Road Infrastructure Tax Credit (RITC) scheme. MTN Nigeria will complete the dualization of the 110 kilometer road.

Last Friday, Nyesom Wike, Governor of Rivers State, said President Muhammadu Buhari had approved the payment of funds owed to Niger Delta states since 1999. According to the Governor, the funds approved by Buhari were money owed to the 13% diversion funds.

He said, "Let me say it for the first time. So many people have asked me, 'Where does he get that money?' intermediary of the Attorney General of the Federation, to thank Mr. President The sums which have not been paid to the States of the Niger Delta since 1999 - the deductions of 13% - the sums which have not been paid, Mr. President approved and paid us all from the Niger Delta States And to me it would be unfair not to tell the public It's not FAAC money It's the money which is supposed to be for Rivers, Delta, Akwa Ibom, Edo and Bayelsa States.”

These are some of the efforts that I believe exemplify leadership.

It is impossible to meet all demands, but it is important that leaders be fair in the distribution of national resources, which are the heritage of every Nigerian.

Leadership must be fair to all, whether for or against. Leadership must create a convergence of divergent interests, opinions and voices. No leadership is without opposition. In fact, the opposition is the mitochondrion of democracy. You need it to keep the wheel turning and to hold the government accountable to the people.

Atiku Abubakar, presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), presents himself as the “unifier” of Nigeria. But in reality, his recent statements and disposition are detrimental to national unity. It seems that the presidential candidate of the PDP was satisfied with the blindness...
