Billionaire CEO shuts down Disney World for employee party, pays for 10,000 employees

It's the holiday season, and when it comes to big bankers, they sure aren't holding back on the celebrations.

Citadel Citadel employees celebrate at Disney World.

This was the case for approximately 10,000 Citadel and Citadel Securities employees who were airlifted to Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida by the CEO and billionaire Ken Griffin to celebrate for three days among the parks with their families.

The party was to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Citadel Securities and the 30th anniversary of Citadel (which took place in 2020 but could not be celebrated due to the pandemic.)

The cost included accommodation, theme park tickets, and all food and beverages employees may consume.

Guests were also treated to a laid-back private concert by Coldplay as well as additional performances by Carly Rae Jepsen and Diplo.

The company oversees approximately 4,000 employees, and this trip included employees from the United States, Canada, and Europe; the company's Asia-Pacific division is hosting a separate event scheduled for 2023.

Earlier this year, Citadel employees were treated to a huge Halloween party at Cipriani in New York, as well as private movie screenings and tickets to Wimbledon.

Griffin and company recently moved their headquarters to Miami, as it was previously based in Chicago.

Griffin's net worth is estimated at $29 billion according to Bloomberg.
