"Boss Mustapha, devoted member of the APC, committed to the victory of Tinubu"

Critics dragged a 'childish, mischievous and grossly inappropriate' story suggesting that the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Mr. Boss Mustapha, 'is working for the candidate of the People's Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, rather than the candidate of his ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) party, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.”

As a result, in a signed statement yesterday, Professor Tahir Mamman (SAN), a former member of the National Caretaker Committee (North East) and stalwart of the APC, said: "For the avoidance of doubt, the SGF has been consistent as a party man, having been a visible pillar at state and national levels.

"He has emerged over the years as an enduring influence at all stages of party affairs, where he has shown commitments to the progressive ideals of the APC and President Muhammadu Buhari's transformational efforts.

"His determination to continue in this direction is unwavering, which is why he supports the emergence of APC's presidential standard-bearer, Tinubu, as President Buhari's successor."

The statement reads in part: "Our attention has been drawn to a grossly misleading report that Mr. Boss Mustapha is President Buhari's supposed top aide, who allegedly works for PDP candidate Atiku rather than Tinubu.

"In one of the reports, titled 'Top aide to President Buhari allegedly working for Atiku finally revealed?', it only referred to the SGF's condolence visit to the PDP candidate over the loss of his assistant as the motive for his numerous posers and conclusions, among other spurious allegations.

"While we appreciate the times we find ourselves in as a time of politics, where innuendo will be rife, we view the story as childish, mischievous and grossly inappropriate.

"Having worked closely with SGF during the days of the Guardian's Extraordinary Convention Committee, and still working with them on a personal and party level, I can speak and testify to their position on this issue. "

The statement adds: "As a senior party official, he is a key advisor to stakeholders, to ensure the success not only of APC-led governments, but also of party officials at all levels.

"Mr. Mustapha therefore fully supports the party across the country, not only for its victory in the upcoming elections, but also for the success of successive APC administrations, by the grace of God. This is in line with the President's position, and he strongly supports it.

"The SGF holds Tinubu in very high regard and their relationship will continue to be strong. It will do everything in its power to ensure Tinubu's emergence as the next President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

"Troublemakers and naysayers should understand that courtesies, such as Mustapha's visit to the Waziri of Adamawa, were purely condolences, being of the same state.

"Political differences do not mean a cessation of social and cultural relations."
