Corruption Allegation: Fani-Kayode Demands Arrest, Prosecution of Ayu and Others

An All Progressives Congress (APC) leader, Femi Fani-Kayode, has called on security agencies to arrest Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Chairman Iyorchia Ayu and other members of the National Committee of work on allegations of corruption rock the party.

The former aviation minister used his social media accounts, Facebook and Twitter, on Monday to call for the arrest and prosecution of opposition politicians.

In a tweet on his verified handle, Mr. Fani-Kayode, a member of Bola Tinubu's campaign council, questioned why security agencies hadn't arrested Mr. Ayu and NWC members within days after the allegation. .

The main opposition party has been embroiled in corruption allegations for the past few weeks following a corruption allegation by Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State against Mr Ayu.

Mr. Wike, who runs the 'Ayu must go' campaign, had in an interview alleged that the former Senate Speaker had raised 1 billion naira from an unnamed person in Lagos.

“Some of the governors can tell you. Will he (Ayu) deny the fact that he did not raise 1 billion naira in Lagos? the money, not from the Lagos state government. The money was given to him in Lagos,” he said.

Days after Mr. Wike's allegation , several members es of the NOC returned about 120 million naira sent by the party.

The NWC members who returned the money are National Vice President (South West) Olasoji Adagunodo; National Vice President (South), Taofeek Arapaja; National Vice President (South) Dan Orbih and National Women's Leader Stella Affah-Attoe.

While Mr. Arapaja got 36 million naira, MM. Adagunodo and Orbih and Ms. Effah-Attoe got N28.8 million each.
