But we're better at spotting rhythm than other cultures, study finds.
New research suggests that people who speak speakers are better at detecting a rhythm while people who speak Mandarin are better at noticing a melody.
An international team, made up of scientists from the University of Auckland and Yale University, recruited almost half a million participants from 203 countries for their study.
In all countries, native speakers of 54 different languages were involved.
