President Muhammadu Buhari sent his best wishes to former military president Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida on his 81st birthday on Wednesday.

A statement released on Tuesday by Femi Adesina, Special Advisor to the President (Media and Publicity), said President Buhari joined the former leader's family, friends and associates in celebrating another year , announced by the benevolence and mercy of God.

The president highlighted the historic role of the former military president in shaping the political and economic development of the country, and his advice to future political leaders.

President Buhari prayed for a longer life, good health and strength for the octogenarian.
