Buhari and Masari introduce Tinubu to Katsina Emirate council and seek support of APC presidential candidate

President Muhammadu Buhari and Governor Aminu Masari of Katsina State have introduced All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate Bola Tinubu to the Katsina Emirate Council.

According to a statement issued by Presidential Spokesperson Garba Shehu on Tuesday, Mr. Buhari introduced Mr. Tinubu to the council on Monday during a courtesy visit to the traditional ruler at his palace in Katsina.

The President urged the Emir of Katsina, Abdulmumini Usman, and the Council of the emirate to mobilize for the APC.

“We are here to introduce our candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Asiwaju has been chosen by our party, and we fully support his candidacy, and we will work for his victory at the polls,” Mr Buhari said.

The ruling party also held a rally in the state on Monday, where Mr Buhari urged his supporters to vote for his party's candidate despite the security and economic challenges facing the state.

Over the weekend, terrorists massacred 42 members of the Yan Sakai Self-Defense Group in the state.

Mr. Buhari said the administration will continue to listen to wise advice from experts, traditional rulers and political leaders on the economy, and adopt best practices to safeguard the interest of the people.

“I hope that the citizens of the country and the natives will remember what the Governor of Katsina State and the Emir of Katsina said about the political regime and the situation in the country. not add more,” he said.

Tinubu faced insecurity in Lagos — Masari

Speaking about the party's presidential candidate, Masari said the former governor of Lagos State had a good security record during his tenure as governor.

"Lagos State had a poor security record, with instances of attacks, robberies and dead bodies on the streets, until Asiwaju took over in 1999.

“The state has been transformed, provided with infrastructure and earned a reputation as one of the fastest growing cities in the world. The state is now a center of excellence thanks to the vision of the APC presidential candidate,” Masari added.

In his remarks, Mr. Tinubu informed traditional leaders that those killed will not be forgotten by the government.

He said peace and stability of the nation remains a collective responsibility.

"We will not forget them. We will not forget their children and the parents left behind. No leader will be happy to see or hear about citizens massacred. It is sad, painful and torturous” , said the presidential candidate.

The Emir of Katsina thanked Mr Buhari for presenting the APC candidate to the emirate council and the citizens of Katsina, assuring them that they will pray and rally for victory at the polls.

He called on the president to look into the challenges posed by the currency exchange, adding that “the pain of the people should be the pain of the leadership.”
