Carragher explains Klopp's 'big problem' as key Liverpool star 'is miles off the pace'

Jamie Carragher has explained what Jurgen Klopp's 'big problem' is at Liverpool and named a key culprit who is "miles off the pace".

Liverpool failed to win for the fifth time in the Premier League this season as they came from 2-0 down to draw 3-3 with Brighton on Saturday.

This means they have now conceded 14 goals in nine games in all competitions this season, keeping just two clean sheets.

This has led the defence, and Trent Alexander-Arnold in particular, to come under fire, with Jurgen Klopp admitting his side need to go back to basics when defending.

But Carragher, while reflecting on Liverpool's terrible first-half record which would see them bottom of the table, claimed it is the midfield that is the biggest concern for Klopp, with a player especially well below its best.

"It's a huge concern," Carragher said on Sky Sports Monday Night Football. “They always give themselves so much to do. They haven't lost too many of those games, so it's not an attitude issue.

"They managed to get back into the game. In the past we've talked about Liverpool conceding because of a high line, but for me a big issue right now is midfield.

"Teams come and go to that back four far too easily - and also at the start of games, hence the poor starts. Brighton were leading 2-0 but I think it's fair to say it should have to be 4-0 after 20 minutes because Liverpool are unorganized and not hard to beat as they always have been.

"Klopp's thing has always been to make Liverpool the toughest team to play against - right now they seem like the easiest team to play against. You might have expected some of what we saw in the first half against Brighton later in the games if Liverpool were chasing them.

"Any summer fan would tell you they think midfield would be a problem this season. Fabinho has been miles off the pace than he has been this season. There had times when they got lucky in certain situations."
