CBN warns public about fake recruitment portal

The Central Bank of Nigeria has issued a public warning about a bogus recruitment portal that is fraudulently inviting eligible members of the public to submit applications for an upcoming recruitment exercise.

According to a press release issued by the bank, the fraudulent website incorrectly lists eligibility requirements, including possession of a Bank Verification Number (BVN), and discriminates against people with physical disabilities .

The statement, signed by Acting CBN Spokesperson Isa AbdulMumin, said the bank does not currently conduct any general recruitment exercises and has never asked for the BVN of potential candidates or discriminated against towards people with physical disabilities.

“The portal then states that persons with physical disabilities are not eligible to apply. physical disabilities.

“Accordingly, members of the public are cautioned to beware of fraudulent recruitment agents bent on taking advantage of the employment challenge to defraud eligible candidates, especially recent graduates. Please be guided accordingly,” reads the press release.

The CBN has also urged the public to ignore any information regarding the recruitment that does not emanate from its official website or other known and legitimate social media platforms.

The bank has also advised members of the public to report any suspicious recruitment portals to the relevant authorities.

The CBN warning comes as cases of employment scams continue to rise in Nigeria, with many young graduates falling victim to fraud schemes.
