Channel 4: Production companies urge next PM to rethink privatization

A letter to Liz Truss and Rishi Sunak asking them to reconsider privatization plans n from Channel 4 has been signed by over 750 UK production companies.
Organized by trade body Pact, the open letter urges the next Prime Minister to reconsidering privatization, saying it would have a "devastating impact".
The government has announced plans to remove it from public ownership this year.< /p>
BBC News has asked the Department for Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) for comment.
Ms. Truss and Mr. Sunak were also asked to respond.
Following his resignation in July, Prime Minister Boris Johnson's replacement - Ms Truss or Mr Sunak - will be nominated by Conservative Party members on Monday.< /p>< p class="ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph eq5iqo00">The letter read: "As independent television and film production companies, we are deeply concerned about the plans in their current form.
"We know first-hand how Channel 4's unique ordering model has helped thousands of independent production companies get started and helped create a thriving industry."
