Chelsea 'admire' €35m PSV winger with Liverpool move 'complicating' pursuit

Chelsea 'love' PSV winger Noni Madueke as Dutch club reluctant to let him go following Cody Gakpo's move to Liverpool, says Fabrizio Romano.

The Blues have already signed Benoit Badiashile, David Datro Fofana and Andrey Santos this month with Joao Felix expected to be the next player to come through the door.

Graham Potter replaced Thomas Tuchel in September despite new co-owner Todd Boehly who strongly supported the latter during the summer transfer window.

It hasn't been easy for the former Brighton manager, with Chelsea currently sitting 10th in the Premier League with a win in their last eight top-flight meetings.

Every big-budget summer signing has failed to impress so far, which has forced Boehly to pull out his checkbook again this month.

Having already spent over £60m on the £11m loan fee for Felix, it would be surprising to see Chelsea's business done with the signing of the striker from Atletico Madrid .

They had expressed interest in Shakhtar Donetsk winger Mykhaylo Mudryk, however, the acquisition of Felix likely means the Blues won't make a bid for the Ukrainian, giving Arsenal a free run to secure the signature.

That said, Potter's team is still linked to several attacking players.

The latest is former Tottenham youngster Noni Madueke, who has been at PSV since 2018.

The England Under-21 winger has been developing well in the Netherlands and has been linked with a return to England.

Crystal Palace have been linked with the 20-year-old before, with Romano now saying Chelsea look up to him.

Writing in his CaughtOffside column, the Italian transfer journalist said Madueke is "one of many" players the Blues "like".

However, it will be difficult to sign the winger this month after PSV sold talisman Cody Gakpo to Liverpool, with the Eredivisie club reluctant to let another key striker go.

It is stated that PSV wanted 'more than 35 million euros' to sell Madueke last summer.

In a full story about Chelsea's interest in the youngster, it is said that the Blues 'admire' and 'love' Madueke, but are 'aware' that Gakpo's transfer to Anfield 'could complicate matters' ".

Chelsea are likely to 'keep an eye on' the player, instead of lining up a bid in January.

Potter currently has a choice of Raheem Sterling, Christian Pulisic, Hakim Ziyech, Kai Havertz, Omari Hutchinson, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Fofana in and near Madueke's position.

While the amount of options are there, Potter doesn't have a great quality at his disposal with Chelsea struggling domestically.

Boehly would be expected to give the ex-Brighton boss time to turn things around, although Tuchel's brutal sacking is likely to keep him on his toes.
