Unrest as diesel tanker explodes near Kingdom Heritage School in Abuja

There was a commotion near the Kingdom Heritage Model School in the Jahi region of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, as parents rushed to collect their children following the explosion of an oil tanker near the school.

Kingdom Heritage Model School is owned by Living Faith Church, aka Winners Chapel, owned by Bishop David Oyedepo.

The incident happened around 11.30am when a tanker truck loaded with diesel overturned on its way to an area gas station and burst into flames, causing a commotion in the area as parents thronged the school to get their children.

The school management was found to have sent a 'distress message' to parents to pick up their children for safety reasons after the explosion.

Many parents who did not understand the nature of the explosion believed that the school and church were under attack given the insecurity in the country.

Normality returned, however, when officers from the FCT Fire Department extinguished the raging fire just yards from the school and no lives were lost.
