COSMBYLA rages over Miyetti Allah's alleged plan to establish nationwide vigilante group
The Coalition of Youth Leaders of the South and Central Belt, COSMBYLA, the umbrella body for all youth groups in the South East, South South, South West and belt center, condemned the alleged plan of the Miyetti Allah to establish a vigilante security group in all 36 states.
Reports have emerged that the Miyeitti Allah Kauta Hore is concluding plans to establish a security team for its members across the country.
Reacting to the report, COSMBYLA in a statement on Monday by its general chairman, Goodluck Ibem, said the move "confirms a plot to Fulanize the country" under the guise of setting up a security team in a country that does not not belong to them.
The statement alleged that the Miyetti Allah decision was prompted by the recent security team set up by Benue State Governor Samuel Ortom saying they were there to counter the team.< /p>
The statement reads: "What interest does Miyette Allah have in establishing a vigilante group in Benue, Ondo, Anambra and other states? Are these states their ancestral homes? What Is it their business to establish a vigilante in another country? It is clear that they are looking for trouble where there is none.
"Dr. Samuel Ortom is the Executive Governor of Benue State and Chief Security Officer of his State, who is constitutionally empowered to ensure the safety of his people at all times.
“What law or constitution gave Miyetti Allah the power to establish a vigilante that they will even refer to the constitutional actions of state governors. What insolence!
"Miyetti Allah bites more than he can chew, it is high time that their bosses who know each other call the Miyyeti Allah to order before things get out of hand.
"It is an offense of treason and punishable by law for Miyetti Allah to assume the power and responsibilities of a governor.
“We therefore call on Miyetti Allah to immediately apologize to Nigerians, Dr. Samuel Ortom, Executive Governor of Benue State, and submit to prosecution for crimes against humanity.”
