Court sentences man to 16 years in prison for terrorism in Kogi

A Federal High Court sitting in Lokoja sentenced Saleh Iro Yusuf to sixteen years in prison for terrorism-like offences.

Saleh was arraigned on four counts of conspiracy to commit an offence, acts of terrorism, hostage taking and kidnapping at the Federal High Court in Lokoja.

Presiding Judge P. Mallong found the accused guilty and sentenced him to four years in prison on each count.

The convict was arraigned by the Department of State Services, DSS Lokoja.

The prosecutor, O. Yahaya, called a total of four witnesses, who presented confessional statements from the accused, a video recording of the confessional statement and a compact disc which was duly admitted by the court.< /p>

Accordingly, Judge Mallong convicted the accused on all four counts of the terrorism offence.
