Cointelegraph spoke exclusively with Tobias Oudejans, DNB press officer for supervision, fintech, cryptocurrencies, resolution and payment systems, who noted that DNB could not comment on specific records due to legal requirements of supervisory laws.
Oudejans clarified that registration specifically allows cryptocurrency service providers to provide cryptocurrency wallets to customers and transact fiat currency on cryptocurrency exchanges.
Crypto.com's services were accessible in the Netherlands prior to the registration announcement. Oudejans told Cointelegraph that Dutch-based users are legally allowed to register for a service, but an unregistered company would be acting illegally if they solicit or advertise their services to Dutch users.
