The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has presented more evidence against singer Azeez Fashola, better known as Naira Marley, in the Federal High Court sitting in Ikoyi, Lagos State.

Indeed, the court also dismissed the defendant's objection to the forensic evidence previously presented by the witness.

The singer's trial continued on Friday before Federal High Court Judge Nicholas Oweibo sitting in Ikoyi, Lagos State.

When the hearing resumed on Friday, prosecution witness Dein Whyte, an EFCC officer, continued to present evidence against the singer.

Naira Marley is on trial on an 11-count borderline charge of credit card fraud brought against him by the EFCC.

A statement from the anti-corruption agency read: “At the last session on June 9, 2022, the defense attorney, Olalekan Ojo SAN, objected to the witness's opinion on the forensic evidence. -legal links linking the accused to credit card fraud.

"He had argued that only the court could rule on the defendant's guilt, not an investigator".

"When the trial resumed today, Judge Oweibo issued a brief decision in which he dismissed the defense objection;

“It is the duty of the law enforcement agency or the police to charge a person in court to investigate whether the accused committed the crime or not. link the accused to the commission of the crime.

"The prosecutor must have made a decision as to the accused's involvement before taking the case to court. I do not agree that the prosecution has found the accused guilty," said said the judge.
