Darryl Hunt: Pogues 'saddened' by bassist's passing

The Pogues have paid tribute to their "great friend" and teammate, bassist Darryl Hunt, who died at the age of 72.

The punk band announced Hunt's death on Monday afternoon in London, adding that they were "saddened beyond words". The cause of death is not yet known.

They shared a photo of Hunt playing guitar and quoted the lyrics to their song Love You' Till The End, which was written by him.

The band's frontman Shane MacGowan added that Hunt will be missed by all of them.

MacGowan wrote on Twitter: "So sorry that Darryl passed away he was a really nice guy and a great friend and a great bass player. < /p>

"He will be missed by all of us."

We are saddened beyond words. Our Darryl passed away yesterday afternoon in London.

He had responded to the band's official announcement on social media, where they told their followers : "We are saddened beyond words.

"Our Darryl passed away yesterday afternoon in London. Darryl Gatwick Hunt 04/05/1950 - 08 /08/2022."
