Delta APC expels Omo-Agege for alleged anti-party activities

All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta State has expelled some key party players, including the gubernatorial candidate in the March 18 election, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege.

The expulsion letter, dated March 30 and signed by the faction's state chairman, Isaac Ulebor, and the faction's state publicity secretary, Overonena Aghogho Joshua, said that the state exco had endorsed the recommendation of the Ughelli North Council Chapter for the expulsion of Omo-Agege from APC.

Omo-Agege, representing the Delta Central Senatorial District in the National Assembly, was reportedly expelled "after due deliberation of the notice of resolution for the expulsion of him as a member of the party by the executive committee of the Orogun district and council of Ughelli chapter.

A Fractional State Executive Committee of the CPA Delta Chapter, led by Mr. Isaac Ulebor, ratified the resolution. The development was part of the post-election crisis that led to the expulsion of the former Executive Director (Finance and Project) of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) Interim Board, Dr Cairo Ojuogboh, for alleged anti-party activities. by the state executive committee headed by Omeni Sobotie.

According to the resolution, the Vice-President of the Senate did not appeal his expulsion, within a week, by the executive committee of his district 02 (Orogun), which had previously recommended the sanction to the Council level.

The faction leaders, in the resolution, listed the sins of the gubernatorial candidate to include authoritarianism; embezzlement of election funds; anti-party activities; insensitive, religious and fraternal words; selfishness and self-centeredness; causing disunity among members; and witch hunts of other party leaders.

The factional state executive committee headed by Ulebor "unanimously agreed that having failed to meet the constitutional requirements and procedures for such recommendations, the ward executive committee was correct in recommending the expulsion from Omo-Agege in accordance with constitutional provisions.

"Therefore, we affirm the expulsion, pursuant to the provisions of Article 21.2 (I)(Ii)(vii) 21.3 and 21.5(g) of the constitution (as amended), we have unanimously resolved and adopted the expulsion of Omo-Agege as a member of the party.

"Accordingly, Omo-Agege is hereby expelled as a member of the party with immediate effect for various offenses and acts of anti-party activity."
