The young people of the Delta did not chase Elumelu - Campaign Group

House of Representatives Minority Leader Ndudi Elumelu was not kicked out of Oko community in Delta State during People's Democratic Party campaign, campaign organization says of the legislator.

The law. Hon. Ndudi Elumelu campaign organization said the campaign train was welcomed in Oko, Oshimili South state local government during their visit on Wednesday.

The PUNCH had reported that the youth of the community had prevented Elumelu from entering the community due to his inability to meet community challenges as a legislator over the years.

But in a statement Thursday from Elumelu Campaign Council Director of the Oshimili South Campaign, Eloke Aziekwu, there was no such event.

The statement read in part: "At no time has the PDP's well-received neighborhood-to-neighbourhood campaign in the Delta North Senate District been interrupted or challenged, let alone prevented in Oko by angry youths. , as said publication claims.

“Furthermore, at no time did individuals, groups of individuals or youths challenge or stop the minority leader, Rt. Hon Ndudi Elumelu from entering Oko community or any other community for that matter, as the misleading report claims.

"Contrary to what the report says, the PDP campaign train from ward to ward which had the Minority Leader and other leaders like Senator Ned Nwoko, Bridget Anyafulu and all the PDP candidates in the next 2023 elections, was enthusiastically received by the people of the Oko community, especially the youth, who came in droves especially to encourage and celebrate Hon. citizens in the region.”

The statement adds that the campaign train was welcomed by the youth leader.

He added, “The youth of Oko community, through their leader, correctly identified as Mr. Chukwudi Okolie, warmly welcomed and appreciated the minority leader for bringing projects into their communities and declared their resolution to re-elect him to the National Assembly.

"The community recalled the many empowerment programs and infrastructure projects of Hon. Elumelu, including the 26-point Oko landing bay, initiated and completed by him as part of his riding project, with 8 brand new 22-seater fast boats to shuttle between Oko and Asaba, which will be commissioned in January 2023.

“The youth leader, however, took the opportunity to call for an intervention on the condition of a particular road and the problem of the faulty transformer and urged the campaign train to take his message to the government of the State."
