Notorious terrorist gang leader, Dogo Gide, who abducted students and teachers from the Federal Government College, Yauri in Kebbi State, has vowed not to release them unless he receives the ransom of 100 million naira which he demanded.

Salim Kaoje, whose daughter, Farida Kaoje, is one of 11 remaining daughters, told PREMIUM TIMES that Mr Gide insisted on the ransom, even with the intervention of his mother to free him girls.

"It's true," replied Mr. Kaoje when PREMIUM TIMES asked him if it was true that Mr. Gide's mother had been involved in the negotiations to have the girls released.

"I spoke with both (Mr. Gide and his mother). I will send it to you (recorded conversations)."

In the two recorded telephone conversations listened to by this reporter, Mr. Gide was overheard telling Mr. Kaoje, who speaks on behalf of the families of the abducted girls, that his mother had sworn never to leave the camp until that the captives are freed.

"I said she (her mother) should tell you about it. If you're ok with my condition (N100m), just give it to someone you trust, I can say who you will give it to, but don't give it to those (he said some of the early negotiators tried to cheat him). If I betray you, may God never grant my wishes," Ms. .Gide.

Mr. Kaoje seemed unconvinced during the 17 minute and 10 second conversation and insisted Mr Gide take an oath that he would fulfill his promise to release all the girls once he received the money.

Mr. Kaoje asked Mr. Gide if he trusted the Emir of Dansadau (in Zamfara State) to be appointed to negotiate on behalf of the family.

To explain why he insists on the fixed ransom, Gide said the parents initially agreed to give him the money, but later said the state government was not helping them get the money. amount.
