Donald Trump plans to hold a screening of Sound of Freedom at his Bedminster golf club next week, taking advantage of the film's unexpected performance at the box office.

Star Jim Caviezel and producer Eduardo Verástegui will be present, while Tim Ballard, former agent of the government on which the story is based, will also be there. The film is based on Ballard's efforts to save children from sex traffickers in Colombia.

The screening will be open to club members and supporters, according to the Trump campaign.

The Angel Studios movie has so far grossed nearly $50 million at the box office. Although non-partisan, the film garnered considerable interest on the right, as a sort of pariah project that challenged major studios. He has been promoted on Steve Bannon's podcast, including by Caviezel and one of Trump's advisers, Jason Miller. In announcing the screening, the Trump campaign pointed to some of the media critics like Rolling Stone, The Guardian, CNN and The Washington Post. The Guardian called the film a "QAnon-adjacent thriller".

In announcing the screening, the Trump campaign measures the former president's steps to end trafficking human beings and Ballard's support for a border wall. Verástegui was a member of Trump's Hispanic Prosperity Advisory Commission, and Ballard was part of an advisory group on human trafficking.

The link between the screening of the film and the political file is not new, because the members of the Congresses regularly hold screenings on Capitol Hill to mobilize attention around the issues. The White House recently hosted Eva Longoria and cast members of Flamin' Hot for an outdoor screening, where President Joe Biden highlighted his record on DACA and urged Congress to enact immigration reform.
